Columbia County

WBTO's first gap analysis, begun under a grant awarded to OMIC R&D. The assessment informed roughly $450,000 in CNC machine tools and instructor training, and when the same programs were re-measured in 2026, every school had improved.

Roughly $450,000 in CNC machine tools and professional development traced to the 2023-24 assessment (one-pager, July 2026).

What the assessment found

Machining alignment stood at 19 percent in 2023-24. The gaps were CNC operation and programming, the same pattern later seen in every region.

What followed

WBTO coordinated the purchase and installation of CNC machine tools for the county's programs, delivered instructor training, and ran the gap analysis. The analysis informed a later PACTEC investment in instructor training and supported Clatskanie High School's successful CTE Revitalization Grant application, which funded another CNC machine tool and further professional development that WBTO delivered. Roughly $450,000 in CNC machine tools and professional development traces back to the first assessment.

What's next

Final results of the 2026 re-measurement publish with the NW Oregon report.
